Mr Kempanna replaced my left knee

Mr Kempanna replaced my left knee in June 2024. Then my right hip in June 2025. His skill and expertise meant very little pain with both procedures and I was up and walking in no time. With the care and attention I received under Mr Kempanna and his team and the staff at Fairfield General Hospital I highly recommend him and Fairfield Hospital to any one needing these joint replacements

Professional, Thorough, and Truly Reassuring Care

Mr Kempanna undertook my hip replacement 8 weeks ago and has done a first class job. From the first consultation, during the day of the operation and through to the post operative care, Mr Kempanna has been professional, caring and extremely thorough in all his time with me. I have just had my operation

I have just had my 6 week review with Mr Kempanna at Salford Royal Hospital. He performed an operation on a double acetabulum fracture. I didnt require pain relief the day after my operation, due to his unique skills as a surgeon. It was a complex operation which thanks to Mr Kempanna and his team could not have gone more smoothly.
My X-rays show that I am making good progress. Mr Kempanna is nothing short of a miracle worker. He is such a gentleman who explained step by step regarding the procedure of my operation and recovery. He was happy to answer any questions that I put to him.

I am eternally grateful for such great care and professionalism shown to me.

I thoroughly recommend Mr Kampenna

Mr Kampenna conducted my hip replacement operation in October 2025. I was worried about infection post op as I was taking immune suppressants but Mr Kampenna used a Pico dressing in order to reduce the risk. My wound was clean following the op and when the staples were removed it had already healed.
I was so happy with my recovery (which is ongoing at the time of writing) and was soon pain free and on my feet again, which was such a relief after three years of waiting.
I thoroughly recommend Mr Kampenna and hope he will be doing my second hip when required.

Exceptional Hip Replacement

Outstanding Care and Expertise from Mr Kempanna

Mr Kempanna has just done a great job on replacing my right hip joint. It that was pretty tricky due to my medical conditions however from start to finish I have felt listened too, supported and have been very grateful for the advice and medical knowledge and expertise delivered by Mr Kempanna. I’ve just had my 6 week check and my recovery is going well. Very nice consultant too which helps when you are worried and in pain, highly recommend.

Mr Kempanna did a TKR

Mr Kempanna did a TKR on my left leg which went well, unfortunately after the staples were removed a week later I developed an infection which caused me to be admitted to hospital for IV antibiotics after many blood tests I was allowed home with oral antibiotics, returning weekly for wound assessment and Pico dressings changed and further antibiotics.
After 12 weeks it was not healing properly.
After a discussion with Mr Kempanna the decision was made to cut the infection out and have IV antibiotics after further tests I was sent home with oral antibiotics. After 2 weeks staples and pico dressing removed, a normal applied. Instructions to change after 4 days and apply new dressing supplied. After another 4 days was to apply further dressing if wound not dry, fortunately it was so did not need redressing. Went back to see. Mr Kempanna today and both of us are happy it has now healed. He will see me again to see how I and me knee are improving.
I am very happy with the final outcome of my treatment under Mr Kempanna.

Expert Hip Revision Surgery by Mr. Kempanna – A Life-Changing Experience

I hap a hip revision Mr Kempanna performed the surgery after taking the old hip out removing a kilo of muscle stitching and repairing the muscle and bone he replaced the hip with a longer stem and new ball & socket the op went great up and walking about after a day frantic job done definitely go and have the other hip replacement done very soon thanks again Mr Kempanna

Attentive, Honest & Skilled Care

Mr Kempanna performed a total knee replacement on my father. We were both very happy with the care received. He was attentive, professional and friendly. Exceptional Surgical Experience and Post-Operative Care for my Hamstring Tear

i was initially referred to Mr Kempanna

i was initially referred to Mr Kempanna in 2022 by my GP, as I was having considerable pain in my left hip. From my first consultation the care that I received was of the highest level. I was extremely fortunate to be referred to Mr Kempanna. He is a truly remarkable gentleman and is driven totally by the needs of his patients. As a keen sportsman, I wished to continue playing tennis, golf and cycling. Mr Kempanna advised that he could manage my condition through injection for the first six months but that a full hip replacement would then be needed. I had my replacement in November 2023 and less than 6 months later have been able to resume a full range of leisure and sporting pursuits without pain . I cannot recommend Mr Kempanna highly enough. From my first appointment through to surgery and post operative care, I could not have asked for anything more. I am truly grateful.

I had a total hip

I had a total hip replacement at Fairfield General Hospital in May 2018 which failed less than two years later.
The pain that I was in at that time was excruciating.
At one stage I was on a mixture of Liquid Morphine & Tramadol to try to ease the pain.
After being referred to North Manchester Hospital I was then referred to Salford Royal under the care of Mr Kempanna.
After months of tests to rule out infection I had a revised complex total hip replacement in March 2022.
The operation was done by Mr Kempanna & Mr Gill & their team which took over eight hours because basically they had to reconstruct my hip.
I was in hospital for eight days so that they could monitor me carefully for any infection.
It has now been eleven months since my operation & I am doing great, I am finally off my crutches which I have been on for the past twenty months.
I still have a bit of rehabilitation to go but the outlook for me is good & I WILL get there.
I now look forward to getting back to work & a normal life.
The truth is Mr Kempanna, Mr Gill & their team & all of the staff at Salford Royal Hospital have given me my life back & I will be forever grateful.
I always felt confident that Mr Kempanna was taking a personal & genuine concern in my welfare & recovery & was doing everything he could to make that outcome as positive as possible.
I would like to thank Salford Royal Hospital for the amazing professional care I received throughout my personal trauma.
The staff in the Fracture Clinic were always helpful & efficient, my many appointments there were never delayed.
In my eight day stay at the hospital the food was great & the ward was spotless.
I cannot praise Salford Royal Hospital enough & I will be forever grateful for the amazing professional care that I received.

They have restored my faith in The National Health Service.

Great Hip Surgeon

I was troubled with my arthritic hip. I saw Mr Kempanna and he examined me carefully. He adviced for hip replacement. I had hip replacement surgery 6 weeks after seeing him and I am pleased to say what a great job he has done. I can walk normally again! No pain and no limping. Highly recommend.
